Learning with truth and love

Just for Parents / Carers

What is the purpose of this page?

The main aim of this page is to pull together key documents, key links and key pieces of information that will help you to be better informed about two things:

  1. Supporting your child in preparation for transition into Year 7
  2. Understanding more about how we operate at The King's and what it is that makes our school family really special.

Welcome to The King's and our school family

You have chosen to send your child to The King's and we are delighted that you have entrusted this special responsibility to us.  We know that we are passionate about nurturing the children in our care into rounded young people ready to step out into society as young people on the brink of adulthood.  We are proud that we have a real "family" feel at school; indeed, we talk about our school as a "school family" - that is important to us.  We are brothers and sisters in Christ and we work together to support each other as members of that same family.  Our vision is all about ensuring that children of all faiths and none grow in truth and love and that they all leave school having realised their full potential.

Your child is about to embark on the next stage of their educational career and this next stage is a big one!  The turbulence that 2020 brings is, naturally, going to make this year's transition into Year 7 very different to any other that we have experienced.  We usually run a lovely transition programme and we are really keen to ensure that our "virtual transition" benefits as many children as it possibly can.  It is so very difficult to know exactly what to do and exactly how best to do it, because it has never been tried before!  It is also hard because we don't know when children will be back together in schools and until we know this for certain, we want you to know that this "virtual transition" process has been planned with a notional return to education in September 2020, but we all recognise and understand that this is not something that we have received any advice about - it is just helpful for us to think of an end point.  As we all learn more about the relaxing of the lockdown period and the return to a school-based education, we will adjust our plans and share them with you as well.  We rely on your trust and understanding with this.

This page will be updated regularly with new documents and links - please visit it regularly.  Whenever there have been any significant updates, we will make contact with you directly by email.  Please do send an email using the form at the foot of this page if you need any specific information that you are struggling to find, or if you need to discuss anything about this next step.
