Duke of Edinburgh Award
Here at The King's we are delighted to offer The Duke of Edinburgh Award to our students as a Directly Licensed Centre. This means we are able to offer all levels of the award and control the delivery within the school.
There are 4 sections to the award:
Physical: any sport, dance or fitness activity that requires a sustained level of energy and physical activity.
Volunteering: giving time to help other people, the community or the environment and animals.
Skill: An activity that will allow you to prove you have broadened your understanding and increased expertise in a chosen skill.
Expedition: Plan, train for and complete an unaccompanied, self-reliant expedition with an agreed aim.

Why do D of E?
D of E is about helping students along the path to a productive and prosperous future. Achieving the award will give students the skills, confidence and an edge over others when applying for Sixth Form, University and for a job. Beyond academic achievement, universities and employers want to see additional skills such as communication, commitment, leadership and teamwork. D of E is a fantastic way to demonstrate and evidence these skills in practice. The D of E award is highly regarded by many of the UK's top employers who want to see, or in some cases demand the D of E award. Follow the link below to find out more about those employers.
